The Basics

Name; James Anthony Potter
Nicknames; To the Marauders; Prongs, Prongsy, or whatever other goofy name Sirius comes up with when hes feeling particularly romantic. Other than that; none, James will not answer to anything aside from his first name.
Age; 16
Birthdate; March 27th, 1960
Wand; Mahogany, 11 inches, pliable.
Bloodline; Pure.
History; James was born in London to David and Catherine Potter. Already aging it was a pleasant surprise to learn that Catherine was pregnant with their first child. Catherine was pampered during the pregnancy and both Catherine and David were able to quit their jobs and run experiments from their home while James grew up.

Although growing up an only child can make one somewhat selfish, James was taught to respect others. As a retired teacher, Catherine knew that some lessons James would have a hard time learning as an only child. Things such as respecting other's possessions, sharing, and waiting for attention. At the same time, James would need some social skills. That being said, James went everywhere with his parents, or at least to the places where there would be other young wizarding children to socialize with.

In summer after James turned five the Potters began to spend their summers at a town home in Kensington, London. Quickly making friends with children on the block, James spent his time learning and playing the muggle game of football. Ever the athletic, James played a decent forward, but lets face it, nothing could compare to Quidditch.

Much to his parent's pleasure, James had no problems making friends or socializing. In fact, he was quite the social butterfly. Something that he father boasted was hereditary. No matter where he was, James was constantly being invited over for dinners, parties and play dates. Likewise, James would invite friends over for dinner, much to his parents delight.

And when James wasn't being the most perfect child a parent could wish for, he was being a nightmare. Never one to be bored he found ways to amuse himself in the most interesting and adventurous ways. Nothing good ever followed the words, "Hey Mum, Dad! Watch this!" David and Catherine were constantly mending broken bones. Thankfully, it was hardly ever much more serious than that. James might have behaved himself a little more, if the people around him didn't find it so funny. He liked the feeling of impressing people, of people laughing and children admiring him because they would never have the guts to do some of the things he did.

Aside from all the fun James had growing up, there were also a few moments that James was less than thrilled about. Anyone with a teacher for a parent (or hell, even a family member) would agree, there was not a moment when something wasn't being taught. When James was smaller he loved it; having Art Time, doing projects, reading, writing, learning history through cute children's stories. By the time he started school James had read most of his school books and even practiced a few spells under the strict supervision of his mother and father.

And so, when James reached school age he had grown into a knowledgeable, proud, confident, pampered, and only slightly vain. This all changed James' first year. James fondly remembers the first day on the train as the day he met his soul mate; Sirius Black. Both boys got on great from the moment they met. James, under the influence of Sirius, and of the attention he received from the student body (mostly the girls), his head became somewhat inflated. Although, there weren't many people that would tell James off, he (with the help of Sirius) would brush off those comments. There wasn't anything wrong with the way he acted. He was funny and the bird's loved it.

All except one bird. Lily Evans. The bane of James Potter's existence. What was wrong with that woman? How could it be possible that she wasn't hot for James Potter. THE James Potter. Everyone liked him (even some Slytherins, gross!). James, no matter how many girlfriends he had could not get her out of his head. And why did she always hang around Snivellus. The girl was mad, that's why. Completely nutters. And so was he. James was completely nutters for Lily Evans.

As far as James was concerned the next few years went by quickly and quietly. I mean, sure, finding out your best friend was a werewolf and then becoming an Animagi to keep him company on the full moon might have been considered a big deal by others, but James took it in stride. The first possibility of Remus being a werewolf was discussed with Sirius before confronting Remus himself. Although it was safe to say that James didn't have the same relationship with Remus that he had with Sirius, still it was a pretty close relationship. Sirius, while still his very best mate, sometimes lacked the tact for more personal heart-to-heart conversations James had with Remus. Of course, there were no secrets between James and Sirius, everything he told Remus would eventually be told to Sirius. As far as friends goes, James not only befriended Sirius and Remus, but also a boy named Peter. He was a different story completely. In their first year, James took Peter under his wing, feeling almost sorry for his classmate. Although there are times when James does get tired of Peter's admiration, he always makes an effort to include him in most things.

Although James had always been a good student, and had somewhat shaped up and matured after the whole 'Snape Incident' (something that James will not talk about to this day), it was still a tremendous shock to himself and everyone around him when he was appointed Head Boy. And, although he was shocked himself, James took offense to those who thought he was playing an elaborate prank on them. Some thought that being appointed Head Boy would be the worst thing that could have happened. Putting James Potter in charge was like appointing a monkey to Minister of Magic. James doesn't agree though. He's out to show Hogwarts that James Potter is not only the best possible choice for Head Boy, but that he'll also be the best Head Boy Hogwarts has ever seen. Even if it killed him.

Mental Health; Completely sane, though he is sure that Lily is purposely trying to drive him crazy.

First Impression; Charmingly arrogant. Funny. Cute.
Personality; Arrogant. Charming. Confident. Funny. All of these words could be uses to describe James Potter. Most people that know him would agree with this. Some of James' more close friends could also tell you that he's very prideful, resilient; James hardly every gives up on anything. And once he's made a decision he'll hold true to it. He's far to proud to give up on something once he's started. But aside from that James is also very friendly and in general many people like him. He's funny, charming and caring (when he wants to be). James is always ready to help a friend in need (even if its in a way that hey don't expect).

On the other end of the scale James has the ability to be ruthless, uncaring, and cruel. Mostly this side only comes out when it comes to Snape, but others can bring out this side of him as well. If you crossed him or one of his friend you should expect a prank to come within the next week. Anyone that disrespects him, his family, or his friends will have it coming too.

All in all, James is a fairly fun, charming, and friendly person. He sometimes makes jokes at the expense of others, but most don't take it too seriously. As they shouldn't. If someone seems more than a little offended by one of James' jokes or pranks, he'll make sure to corner them down and let them know that he was only joking and really didn't mean any offense.
